The Starfish Chronicles isn’t just a memoir. It’s a reclamation, a movement, a decision to trust the Glimmers, use our Voices and connect with the Warrior within.

I’m writing this book to honor the women who helped light my healing path and as an offering to those who are still searching for their way home.

Let’s shine together.

The Starfish Parable…

One day, an old man was walking along a beach that was littered with thousands of starfish that had been washed ashore by the high tide. As he walked, he came upon a young girl who was eagerly throwing the starfish back into the ocean, one by one.

Puzzled, the man looked at the girl and asked what she was doing. Without looking up from her task, the girl simply replied, “I’m saving these starfish.”

The old man chuckled aloud, “There are thousands of starfish and only one of you. What difference can you make?”

The girl picked up a starfish, gently tossed it into the water and turning to the man, said, “I made a difference to that one!”

The Starfish Chronicles: A Coast Guard Veteran’s Journey from Surviving to Thriving and the Women Who Lit the Way

The Starfish Chronicles: A Journey from Surviving to Thriving, and the Women Who Cast the Way (working title) is part memoir, part movement.

It is a story about one woman’s path to healing after service, trauma, and disconnection, guided not only by the rhythm of rivers and the pull of trout, but by the wisdom and strength of the women who walked beside her.

From African savannahs to the coastlines of the Coast Guard, finally landing in the quiet stillness of Montana’s mountain streams, this book takes you deep into the story of what it means to listen to glimmers, reclaim your voice, and trust in the Tribe.

With fly fishing as both lifeline and metaphor, Sue Kerver explores the messy, beautiful, and raw truths of healing, offering a hand (and a rod) to other Women Warriors who are ready to find themselves again.

If you’ve ever felt like your story didn’t matter, or that you’re navigating your journey alone, this book is your reminder that healing can happen once cast, one step, one sister at a time.

Whether you’re a woman Veteran, a trauma survivor, or simply someone ready to reclaim your strength, this story is for you!
