You Don't Have to Walk This Journey Alone
As part of The Starfish Chronicles Impact Tour, generous sponsors have already paid for copies of my book to be shared with active-duty military personnel, veterans (and spouses), and first responders.
If that's you, I'd like to put a copy in your hands.
The book is free. Simply cover the $5.25 U.S. shipping cost, and I'll personally send you a signed copy. That's it.
Once those copies have been claimed, this offer will close.
If something in this message speaks to you, I hope you’ll order one of these copies. And if you know someone else who might need this book, please share this page with them, too.
Let’s Shine Together.

Honestly? There isn't one.
These books have already been generously sponsored through The Starfish Chronicles Impact Tour so they can get into the hands of people who may need them.
All you pay is the $5.25 flat-rate U.S. shipping cost, which covers packaging and sending the book via USPS Media Mail to a U.S. address.
Just as a heads-up, I’m a one-woman operation, so it may take a few days after you order for your copy to make its way into the mail. Once it does, I’ll send you a follow-up email with your USPS tracking information.
After it’s mailed, delivery usually takes about a week.

This offer is for active-duty military personnel, veterans (and spouses), and first responders in the United States.
You don't have to tell me your story, explain what you've been through, or justify why you want a copy.
If you're eligible, simply order one of the copies that have been sponsored. I’d be honored to put a copy in your hands.
-
CLICK HERE or click the CLAIM YOUR IMPACT TOUR COPY LINK to go to the order form.
Then fill out the order details and pay the $5.25 U.S. shipping cost.
That’s it.
After you’ve read the book, I’d love to hear from you. You’re welcome to send me a note, a photo, or a few words about what the book meant to you. If you give me permission, I may share it on the website or social media. I’ll include a little flyer with the book with all the ways to get in touch.
And if you want to follow along on Instagram, you can find me at @sue_kerver_author.

At this time, the sponsored copies are available for U.S. addresses only. The shipping cost covers USPS Media Mail within the United States.
If you're outside the U.S. and would like a copy, you can purchase one through the ordering options on the website.
-
No. The sponsored offer is limited to one free book per eligible person, and it will be available until all of the sponsored copies have found their way to readers.
If you’d like an additional copy, or want to share one with someone else, you’re absolutely welcome to purchase a signed author copy directly from me through this website, or pick up a non-signed copy wherever you normally buy books.
The sponsored copies are meant to help get this story into as many hands as possible. So if you know someone who might need it, share this page with them.
-
For this sponsored offer, paperback is the only option available.
If you’d prefer a hardcover or eBook, those are available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
And no, there isn’t an audiobook yet. But I’m working on it! So, hopefully, there will be a way to listen to The Starfish Chronicles soon.
-
Absolutely!!! In fact, I’d love your help.
I’m currently looking for 388 additional book sponsors to help reach the 1,000-book goal for The Starfish Chronicles Impact Tour. Those sponsored books will be donated to veteran and first responder organizations in 2027.
Click here to learn more about the Impact Tour.
If you have someone specific in mind, though, there’s another option. You can purchase a signed author copy and let me know on the order form who the book is for and what you’d like the dedication to say.

You don't have to have experienced military sexual trauma, PTSD, or anything else in my story to find something here.
The Starfish Chronicles is ultimately about losing your way, finding your voice, following the Glimmers, and learning to trust yourself again. It’s about transition, identity, healing, friendship, nature, and the people who help us find our way home.
You don't need to know exactly why you want the book before you order it.
A little about the book…
The Starfish Chronicles is a memoir about reclaiming voice, reconnecting with the Warrior Woman Spirit, and learning to follow the quiet glimmers that lead us home. Spanning landscapes from African savannahs to America's wild rivers and coastlines, this book traces an eight-year journey of healing after service in the Peace Corps and the U.S. Coast Guard. It tells the honest, unvarnished truth about living with trauma, without shortcuts and without pretending healing is linear.
Through nature, intuition relearned, and the steady presence of community, this memoir explores healing as embodied, relational, and deeply human. It is a story for anyone navigating transition, burnout, or the invisible wounds of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and military sexual trauma.
And if MST is part of your story, please know you are not alone. The VA reports that approximately 1 in 3 women and 1 in 50 men receiving VA health care report experiencing military sexual trauma.
Behind every number is a person. A story. A life that continues after service.
That’s why I wrote The Starfish Chronicles. Not just to tell my story, but to share what I learned along the way, including the things that helped me move from surviving to, eventually, thriving.
You don't have to have experienced the same things I did to find something of yourself in these pages. You don't have to have it all figured out.
Maybe this book is simply a reminder that someone else understands. Maybe it helps you find words for something you've struggled to say. Or maybe it reminds you that your own voice is still there.
Whatever your journey, it's yours to have.
But you don't have to walk it alone.
A little about me…
I’m a Coast Guard veteran, former Peace Corps volunteer, conservation storyteller, fly-fishing guide, and longtime public servant. I spent more than a decade in the U.S. Coast Guard and nearly two decades in federal service, with a life that has taken me from the African savannah to coastlines, rivers, disaster zones, and some pretty unexpected places in between.
But this book isn’t really about any of that.
It’s about what happened when I lost my voice and how I slowly found my way back to it.
For years, fear and shame kept me quiet. I was used to being the strong one, the leader, the person who figured things out. Asking for help didn't come easily. Eventually, I reached a breaking point and had to begin rebuilding a life that actually felt like mine.
Nature became part of that healing. So did fly fishing. Somewhere along the way, rivers, wild places, quiet moments, and the women who showed up beside me helped me remember how to listen to the world around me and, eventually, to myself.
I didn't do it alone. And I don't believe any of us are meant to.
